Dallas Rapper Arrested for Shooting Death of Friend

Dashawn Maurice Robertson, 20, a Dallas rapper known as Lil Loaded, turned himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department on November 9, 2020, in connection with the murder case of 18-year-old Khalil Walker.

On October 25, 2020, law enforcement was notified of a shooting in the Dallas neighborhood, The Wood, at about 2:40 p.m. By the time police arrived, Walker had already been taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center after being shot in the torso with a rifle. He succumbed to his injuries about two hours later.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Walker’s sister, Kahija, reported the shooting after hearing two gunshots from inside the home. When she went outside, she saw Robertson and a witness standing over Walker, who was lying in the street. Robertson and the witness yelled at the sister to call 9-1-1, but then drove Walker to the hospital before the ambulance arrived.

Kahija picked up Robertson’s phone and saw video footage that revealed him shooting Walker, according to the affidavit. After the trip to the hospital, Robertson brought the witness, Cameron Walker, back to the house and then fled. When Kahija spoke to a detective, she indicated that Robertson was a family friend.

Robertson’s bond was initially set at $500,000 but then reduced to $75,000. If the bond is paid, he can be released under electronic monitoring. A grand jury hearing will determine if enough evidence exists to charge him with the crime, but no court date for the hearing has been set.

What the Accused Has to Say

A video posted on Instagram by Robertson on the day Walker died had a caption that appeared to be a tribute and expression of love for Walker. On November 11, Robertson shared a photo of his mugshot with his Instagram followers. “I appreciate all y’all support,” he wrote in the caption. “They try to make u look guilty wen u innocent regardless..we going to get pass this. Rip my brother love u.”

Rumors about the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Walker have circulated online. The owner of Say Cheese TV, Shawn Cotton, has been covering the story and told the media outlet, Complex, that he spoke to people who know Robertson about the incident and was told that Walker and Robertson were “really good friends.” Although he acknowledges that it’s just hearsay at this point, Cotton was told that the shots were fired during the filming of a music video. “It was an accident. It wasn’t like they got into an argument. Shots went off, [Walker] got shot, and he died, unfortunately.”
